About Dr Dylan Gibson
Dr Dylan Gibson is a specialist family physician who is based in Gqeberha, South Africa. He worked for 10 years in the government health system before moving into private practice. He works part-time at the SA sleep lab where he completed the Michigan certificate in sleep medicine.
Dylan has developed an interest in mental health, and has completed the year-long Compassionate Inquiry training through Dr Gabor Mate. He is planning to enter the mentorship program in February 2025 and hopes to complete his certification by the end of 2025.
Dylan has developed a passion for supporting mental health with tools such as nutrition, sleep, connection to nature, exercise, ice-bathing and breathwork.


Compassionate Inquiry
It has been said, ‘‘With our minds (thoughts) we create the world’ – and this mind was first formed by our early childhood experiences. In this way, many of us are locked into the past – constricted by deep beliefs that continue to create our life experience.
When conditions for healthy development aren’t present, we learn to adapt and survive as children. Our personality forms around these adaptations – being nice, helpful, clever, fun, successful etc. But eventually these cleverly crafted coping mechanisms make us suffer, because they keep us disconnected from our authentic selves.
Do you want to create a different world – one not constricted by limiting beliefs about yourself? Do you want to let go of adaptive behaviors and reconnect with who you truly are?
Compassionate inquiry is a wonderful approach developed by Dr Gabor Mate that creates space for this to happen. When there is safety and compassion you can allow yourself to see the truth and feel the pain that you carry. But the truth will set you free – after all, it is the avoidance of truth that leads to suffering.

Sleep Course
Sleep is one of nature’s most potent elixirs – and yet for many people it is often elusive. While there are many ways to break patterns of disrupted sleep, help can be difficult to access. Sleeping pills can create more problems than they solve and don’t restore a sense of confidence in your body’s ability to sleep. I have had my own journey with sleep problems and I know how difficult it can be.
